Tax benefits

The sponsorship operation proposed in this document falls within the scope of the tax provisions of the law of August 1er, 2003 relating to sponsorship, associations and foundations.

  • The tax regime for corporate philanthropy

When a company subject to tax in France makes a donation to a public-interest organization, it benefits from a reduction in corporate income tax or income tax, but can also benefit from certain communication and public relations rewards.

For companies, the tax reduction is equal to 60% of the amount of the donation made in cash, skills or kind, and retained within the limit of 0.5% of sales excluding VAT. If this limit is exceeded, the excess can be carried forward to the next five years.

In addition, a corporate sponsor can benefit from communications and public relations compensation, capped at 25% of the amount of its donation.

  • The tax regime for individual philanthropy

The income tax reduction scheme available to individuals was unified and improved by the law of August 1, 2003 on sponsorship, associations and foundations and its successive advances. It applies to all donations made to works and organizations of general interest. The definition of beneficiary sectors, including culture, is very broad.

The tax reduction is equal to 66% of the amount of the donation made in cash or in kind (e.g. the donation of a work of art), up to an annual limit of 20% of taxable income. The excess can also be carried forward to the following five years.
