"Musiques pour un Nouveau Monde"

With the aim of always better corresponding to its initial philosophy, in 2023 the Rosa Musica Festival has created the "Camerata Rosa Musica" by bringing together renowned chamber musicians around the Girard Quartet.

Program

  • L'Arlésienne by Georges Bizet (20 min) : A string orchestral suite from the opera inspired by Alphonse Daudet's short story. An ode to romantic sensibility and nostalgia for regional roots, where impossible love mingles with the upheavals of a society in the midst of the Industrial Revolution.
  • Antonín Dvořák's Serenade for Strings (30 min): A celebration of popular music as a force for social cohesion, composed by a master who left his mark on Europe and the "New World" alike.
  • Slow Movement from Quartet Op. 135 by Ludwig van Beethoven (9 min): A testamentary work, a symbol of freedom and human greatness, transcribed for string orchestra.
  • Adagio in Bb minor by Samuel Barber (9 min) : A masterpiece of universal emotion, often played at solemn moments, arranged for string orchestra.
  • Overture to Lawrence d'Arabie by Maurice Jarre (5 min) : An iconic film score, evoking heroism and the impact of an individual on the course of history.
